Lead Writer, Interactives

Medscape, a division of WebMD, develops and hosts physician portals and related mobile applications that make it easier for physicians and healthcare professionals to access clinical reference sources, stay abreast of the latest clinical information, learn about new treatment options, earn continuing medical education credits and communicate with peers. Through our family of apps and services, we make it easier for physicians and healthcare professionals to access top clinical decision-support sources, stay abreast of the latest science and clinical information, learn about new treatment options, and earn continuing medical education credits.

The Lead, Interactives, creates interactive content on a variety of clinical topics for healthcare professional audiences with a high degree of independence. This role ensures interactive content follows defined best practices, is based on the information needs of the intended audiences, is true to our brand's missions and values, and builds on our leadership position in health and medical information worldwide. This role creates interactive content for a range of medical specialties for global and regional audiences.

A background in medical health or science publishing, strong writing skills, and proven operational skills, including ability to balance competing priorities and collaborate with adjacent teams and stakeholders, are required. Experience with interactive content preferred.

Responsibilities:

  • Write high-quality, engaging, and medically accurate interactive editorial content for audiences of medical professionals from a variety of specialties and global regions with a high degree of independence
  • Manage the editorial workflow of multiple simultaneous projects from start to finish ensuring accuracy, quality, and on time publication
  • Coordinate and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, medical reviewers, and adjacent teams to optimize quality, contributor experience, and efficiency
  • With interactives team leadership, iterate on best practices based on audience engagement data, to include selection of appropriate sources, quiz questions, and contributors
  • Coach and develop the writing of more junior team members as assigned
  • Adapt to future products, product changes, and new workflows as they develop
  • Identify and explore areas across our editorial products where innovation can improve content and production efficiency, such as AI

Required Skills:

  • Clinically focused or English, Journalism, or related Bachelor's degree or equivalent related experience
  • 5+ years writing medical or science content
  • Strong attention to detail and clinical and editorial judgment
  • Proven strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills
  • Positive attitude under pressure
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaborate effectively as a cross-functional team member
  • Experience using data analytics to support planning and decision making
  • Excellent time management skills; ability to prioritize effectively to manage multiple projects simultaneously for on time delivery

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience writing for healthcare professionals from a variety of specialties
  • Experience with digital interactive content
  • Fluency with Google suite to include Gmail, Google Sheets, and Google Docs; fluency with Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Experience with Workfront
  • Experience using AI tools (eg, ChatGPT, Google Gemini) for content creation

This is a hybrid role based out of our Atlanta, GA office 3 days a week, and 2 days remote.
