Starting Pay: $26.00 per hour

Your Schedule:

• Tuesday – Saturday
• 9 AM on Weekdays
• 7 AM on Saturdays
• Overtime after 40 hours

Main Ingredients of the Job:

• Troubleshoot, diagnose, rebuild, and replace diesel equipment (tractors, trailers, bobtails, reefers, lift gates, etc.).
• Perform preventative maintenance to meet company standards.
• Document all repair orders, PM lists, and parts accountability.
• Handle road service calls and perform road rescue/transport as needed.
• Log assigned repairs using the Shop Fax system.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment in compliance with safety regulations.
• Manage inventory and maintain proper recordkeeping.
• Provide backup support to other maintenance shop personnel.
• Be ready to take on increased responsibilities and certifications.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Supervision & Relationships:

Internal: VP of Operations, Transportation Manager, and various USF personnel

External: Vendors, Parts, and Equipment Delivery Personnel

Qualifications:

Education/Training: High school diploma or equivalent required.

Experience:

• A valid Class-A CDL license and DOT certification preferred.
• 2 years of verifiable hands-on experience as a heavy-duty commercial diesel mechanic or reefer mechanic, or a combination of both.
• 1 year of verifiable hands-on experience with Diesel Mechanic Certification or TK/Carrier Refrigeration Certification.
• Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
• Experience in administering a PM program.
• Must furnish personal hand tools.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Compliance with EPA and OSHA regulations.
• Ability to read and understand technical and service manuals.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Adaptability to changing organizational needs.
• Computer and software proficiency.
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends.
• Overtime availability as needed.

Physical Requirements:

• Occasional sitting, frequent standing and walking.
• Ability to lift up to 100 lbs (with assistance for heavier items).
• Frequent bending, stooping, and reaching.
• Occasional climbing and balancing.

Compensation is based on relevant experience, education, specific skills, function, geographic location, and other applicable factors. The expected base rate for this role is between $26 - $28.00. This role may also receive overtime compensation, incentive compensation based on productivity and quality, and shift differentials.
