Position Summary:We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Special Education Teachers Aide to support our students and teaching staff. The ideal candidate will assist in providing personalized instruction, implementing classroom activities, and supporting students with special needs, including those with developmental, behavioral, or mobility challenges.Key Responsibilities:Assist the Special Education Teacher in implementing individualized lesson plans, activities, and accommodations for students.Provide one-on-one or small-group support to students, focusing on academic, social, and life skills development.Assist with the implementation of behavior management strategies, including those based on Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) principles.Help maintain a positive, organized, and inclusive classroom environment.Support students with daily activities, including transitions, toileting, feeding, and mobility needs, as required.Monitor student progress, collect data, and provide feedback to the teaching team.Prepare and organize classroom materials and resources for lessons and activities.Ensure the safety and well-being of all students by closely supervising them and following school policies and procedures.Collaborate with teachers, staff, and parents to promote student success and independence.Assist in maintaining accurate records and documentation.Qualifications:DCF 45-hour mandated trainingHigh school diploma or equivalent (required); Associates degree in education, special education, or a related field (preferred).Experience working with children with special needs, including autism, developmental delays, or behavioral challenges (preferred).Familiarity with ABA principles, positive behavior support strategies, and assistive technologies is a plus.Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.Compassionate, patient, and able to build rapport with students.Ability to lift, move, or assist students as needed (mobility or physical support may be required).Preferred Qualifications:Experience working in a small classroom setting or alternative education environment.Knowledge of sensory integration, de-escalation strategies, and trauma-informed practices.BLS (Basic Life Support) certification or willingness to obtain it.Benefits:Competitive salary, commensurate with experience and qualifications.Opportunities for professional development and training.Supportive and collaborative work environment.Potential for growth within the organization.Expected hours: No more than 30 per weekBenefits:401(k)Dental insuranceEmployee discountFlexible spending accountHealth insuranceLife insurancePaid time offParental leaveProfessional development assistanceReferral programPhysical Setting:Private schoolSchedule:Monday to Friday
