Job Title : Senior Android Software Engineer About The Job We are looking for a Senior Android Software Engineer to join our engineering team. The role involves working independently on complex technical challenges, contributing to technical strategy, and mentoring less experienced developers. The engineer will focus on mobile technology strategy, architecture, and supporting CNN’s mobile apps, ensuring technical excellence and collaboration with cross-functional teams. About The Team This team builds innovative mobile experiences for news audiences, leveraging the latest features and technologies. The Daily Responsibilities Architect and develop user-friendly, well-designed mobile apps Support and enhance production pipelines and tools Collaborate with Product, Design, Delivery, Editorial, and Engineering teams Troubleshoot and debug production issues Maintain existing systems supporting CNN’s digital ecosystem Mentor junior developers Follow industry best practices for software development, security, and standards The Essentials BSc/MS in computer science or equivalent At least 5 years of professional development experience Strong fundamentals in data structures and algorithms Experience with mobile native development (Kotlin/Java, Jetpack Compose, Android SDK) Expertise in scalable, secure mobile app architecture Experience with mobile DevOps tools and CI/CD practices Effective communication skills The Nice to Haves Knowledge of AWS or similar cloud platforms Familiarity with databases (SQL, NoSQL, GraphDB) Additional Information Our core values guide how we operate and collaborate. The salary range for this role is $119,700 - $222,300 annually, with benefits including health insurance, retirement plans, paid time off, and more.
