Job Description

About Storr Group

Storr Group is a leading operationally-focused private equity firm with offices in Austin, TX, and New York, NY. We build and scale best-in-class services platforms across the United States, elevating industries for consumers, employees, and key stakeholders. The firm predominantly operates within fragmented, high-margin sectors, creating value through consolidation and our methodical Storr Business Systems playbook, which drives operational excellence, industry-leading growth, and technology transformation. Storr Group is actively operating multiple scaled platforms and has executed ~150 investments.

A hallmark of Storr’s approach is our high-velocity, accretive M&A strategy, supported by a streamlined integration process and a team with unmatched execution experience. This approach has enabled Storr to rapidly scale our platforms, delivering substantial margin expansion and sustainable organic growth.

Role Overview

The Private Equity Analyst will play a critical role in fueling Storr Group’s deal pipeline by leading top-of-funnel origination efforts through direct outreach to founders, investment banks, and brokers. For the initial 1-2 years, this is a high-energy, outbound-focused role – ideal for someone who thrives on cold calling, building relationships, and driving new deal opportunities through persistence, communication, and hustle.

This is a career-track role with multiple avenues for advancement. Analysts who excel will have the opportunity to transition into a full investment team role, bringing with them a distinct advantage: direct experience with deal sourcing, meaningful exposure to financial modeling, due diligence, and portfolio work, and a strong understanding of how we originate and evaluate opportunities. Others may choose to continue advancing within the origination function, taking on greater ownership of sourcing strategy and relationship management. Both paths are integral to Storr’s long-term success, and we are deeply committed to developing top talent – whether they grow into investment professionals or become leaders in our origination efforts.

The right candidate – one who is energized by origination and thrives in a fast-paced, relationship-driven environment – will be traveling across the country and meeting face-to-face with sellers and key stakeholders before long.

Key Responsibilities

  • Origination Execution : Proactively develop, manage, and nurture a pipeline of founder, banker, and broker relationships. Analysts are expected to take initiative in identifying prospects, executing targeted outreach – including cold calling – and generating meaningful conversations that contribute to Storr’s broader origination efforts.
  • Lead Management : Own all stages of engagement – from initial outreach to follow-ups, qualification, and handoffs to the investment team.
  • Relationship Building : Act as the initial point of contact with business owners and intermediaries. Analysts should be able to clearly articulate Storr’s value proposition, build rapport quickly, and help establish credibility in early conversations.
  • Team Collaboration : Work closely with the investment team to align origination efforts with strategic priorities, surface insights from conversations, and iterate targeting approaches.
  • Research & Targeting : Occasionally support company- or contact-level research to sharpen outreach quality. Develop familiarity with our target industries and sectors to conduct credible, informed conversations.
  • Deal & Portfolio Support : Assist with select financial modeling, due diligence, and portfolio company initiatives on an as-needed basis to build experience across the full investment lifecycle.
  • Systems Ownership : Help manage, refine, and become an expert in leveraging the technology stack that powers our origination engine, including tools for lead generation, pipeline tracking, and outreach execution.

Qualifications

  • Experience : 1–2 years of experience in investment banking, private equity, management consulting, or a similarly rigorous, analytical, and fast-paced environment. Prior exposure to deal sourcing or owner engagement is a plus.
  • Communication Skills : Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage persuasively and professionally with senior executives, business owners, and intermediaries. High emotional intelligence (EQ) is essential – enabling you to build trust quickly, read the room, and adapt to diverse stakeholders.
  • Mindset : Energetic, proactive, and solutions-oriented. The ideal candidate is confident and persistent, with the ability to overcome obstacles, handle rejection professionally, and maintain a positive attitude.
  • Professionalism : Strong executive presence, intellectual curiosity, and sound judgment. Comfortable operating with a high degree of autonomy and accountability.
  • Team Orientation : Collaborative and low-ego. Willingness to contribute to a high-performing, fast-paced, and results-driven culture. Storr values humility, hustle, and excellence.
  • Technical Proficiency : Competency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word); CRM experience is a plus.
  • Education : Bachelor’s degree required, with a strong preference for majors in finance, economics, business, or other analytically rigorous fields.

Location

This is a full-time, in-office role based in Storr’s Midtown Manhattan office. Travel to meet with sellers and key stakeholders across the U.S. will be an important part of the role.

Storr Group provides equal employment opportunity to all qualified employees and applicants for employment regardless of race, color, creed, religion, sex, pregnancy, national origin, ancestry, citizenship status, age, marital or partnership status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, disability, genetic predisposition, veteran or military status, status as a victim of domestic violence, a sex offense or stalking, or any other classification prohibited by applicable law.
