General Laborer – Outdoor Operations

Location: Grimes, Iowa

Type: Contract-to-Hire

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–5:00 PM; Every other Saturday, 7:00 AM–12:00 PM

Pay: $18/hour

Job Description: Apply now to join as a general laborer at a leading building materials distributor. We are seeking a reliable and hardworking individual to support daily operations in a fast-paced outdoor environment. This role is ideal for individuals with hands-on experience in construction or production with forklift operation and general labor experience, looking for long-term growth and stability.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate forklifts to move and stage inventory throughout the yard
• Pull and prepare orders from incoming trucks for dispatch
• Assist with deliveries by accompanying full-time drivers to client sites
• Use hand tools for basic tasks and yard maintenance
• Collaborate with a team of 25+ yard workers to ensure efficient workflow

Required Skills & Experience

• Minimum 6 months of forklift and production experience
• At least 6 months of working in outdoor environments
• Basic proficiency with hand tools and framing experience
• Back ground in construction or general labor preferred
• Understanding of manufacturing and material handling processes

Work Environment

• Active outdoor and indoor setting with a team of 100+ employees
• Exposure to varying weather conditions; appropriate attire required
• Safety gear provided (gloves, glasses, hard hat)
• Jeans and t-shirt acceptable for daily wear
• Extended hours may be required during peak seasons

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.00/hr.
