We are currently hiring an interim Executive Director. This hybrid position is responsible for advancing the mission of the American Heart Association through exceptional volunteer leadership and staff engagement in achieving our Health Impact and Revenue goals for identified market(s) in the Western States Region (Alaska, Arizona, California, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, and Washington).

We offer a base salary with the potential to earn an incentive up to 25% of your base pay. The potential incentive is based on achieving certain revenue targets and triggers.

This interim opportunity is a temporary position with an anticipated initial term of up to four months.

Responsibilities

  • Engage strong volunteer leadership; develop a high performing staff team; and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to inspire shared ownership of lifesaving work.
  • Effectively recruit, engage and develop leadership volunteers including the Division Board of Directors, Executive Leadership Teams, sponsoring organizations, and funders.
  • Build, coach and engage a high performing staff team that effectively represents the organization in achieving shared goals.
  • Ensure effective and fully compliant operations including CRM systems, division finances and data management.
  • Ensure alignment with field operations, organizational practices, and strategic plans.
  • Through exceptional volunteer leadership engagement and directly prospecting, secure and cultivate revenue-generating opportunities, driving bold and balanced campaign growth including corporate sponsorship, individual giving and strategic business planning.
  • As a player/coach, provide leadership, coaching and guidance for the planning, implementation and evaluation of fundraising campaigns.

Qualifications

  • 5 years minimum of prior relevant experience and at least 5 years of supervisory experience.
  • Bachelors degree or equivalent.
  • A strong track record in fundraising or outside sales, preferably within a voluntary health organization.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in building and leading high performing teams.
  • Proven experience with and commitment to recruiting and engaging volunteer leadership for sustained involvement.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and collaboration skills.
  • Unwavering professionalism and commitment to excellence.
  • Flexibility to leverage remote conferencing tools for effective internal and external engagement.
  • Ability to regularly travel within the identified market(s).

Compensation & Benefits

Expected pay range will be $112,000 to $145,000 annually. Pay is commensurate with experience; geographic differentials to the pay range may apply. The American Heart Association reserves the right to pay more or less than the posted range.
