Where is the work:
This position has been designated On-Site with work performed in our Trane La Crosse R&D Lab 5-days per week.

Job Summary:

Trane Technologies has an exciting opportunity for an onsite position in our Engineering Test Laboratory (Lab) in La Crosse as an Electromechanical Product Development Technician II. Your primary function in this support role is to aid in testing setup of New Products in Development (NPD), Sustainability, and Quality improvement projects, in addition to some agency compliance. Your technician role would support qualifying Trane Applied Compression and Commercial Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) and Heat Pump products. Current demand is also supporting large commercial chiller development to cool industrial data centers supporting AI functionality. The job requires problem solving, troubleshooting, and collaboration with other lab and engineering team members to ensure timely completion of projects. This position is salaried non-exempt.

What you will do: \n
    \n
  • Work safely and maintain a safe work area in accordance with company policies and procedures
  • \n
  • Support product development activities by operating commercial HVAC equipment, controlling test facilities, and collecting experimental test data, with modest guidance from senior laboratory staff
  • \n
  • Lead or assist with installation, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of devices and systems. Including but not limited to sensors, instrumentation & process controls, AC/DC motors, controls, drives, and relay logic
  • \n
  • Work with Test Engineering and other Technicians to install and utilize laboratory test equipment including data acquisition systems, power analyzers, flow equipment, pressure, and temperature measurement devices
  • \n
  • Troubleshoot and repair of Trane commercial HVAC technologies and equipment
  • \n
  • Drive for continuous improvement in job performance and laboratory procedures
  • \n

What you will bring:

\n
    \n
  • Associate’s Degree in Electromechanical, Electronics, HVAC (or equivalent technical discipline) at an accredited school and at least 5-years of work experience in a related field is required;

    - OR -

  • \n
  • 1-year certificate/diploma in a technical discipline and at least 7-years of work experience in a related field will also be considered.
  • \n
  • EPA Type Universal Certification or willingness to become certified.
  • \n
  • Strong grasp of refrigeration related thermodynamic principles and mechanical troubleshooting is preferred.
  • \n

Key Competencies:

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams) required, with desire to learn basic programming in Visual Basic is preferred
  • \n
  • A working knowledge of measurement and control equipment (digital multimeters, oscilloscopes, programmable power supplies, etc.), data acquisition, and communications
  • \n
  • Demonstrates basic to advanced knowledge on measuring/inspection instruments and or mechanical and electrical components and their principles, properties, and theories
  • \n
  • Proficient understanding of schematics, reading, and interpreting engineering drawings, technical reports, safety rules, operation, and maintenance instructions
  • \n
  • Ability to understand and follow current work instructions and applicable test standards
  • \n
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of complex variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
  • \n
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in order to listen and speak effectively before groups of customers or employees in the organization
  • \n
  • Ability to multitask while working efficiently in a fast-paced team environment
  • \n

Compensation:
Annual Pay Range: $39,000 - $84,100

Disclaimer: This pay range is based on US national averages. Actual base pay could be a result of seniority, merit, and geographic location where the work is performed. This role is also overtime eligible.
