Designs, implements, and supervises age-appropriate curriculum, manages classroom activities and interactions, supervises students and volunteers, and maintains a safe and healthy environment. Collaborates in planning curriculum based upon knowledge of child development and observations to provide an optimal and safe environment for young children. Provides a welcoming environment for children and parents and collaborates in arranging and conducting parent/teacher conferences. Supervises and delegates classroom responsibilities to part-time assistant teachers, volunteers, and student teachers. Maintains cleanliness and order in the classroom. Provides supervision that ensures children are constantly attended by Center staff. Monitors children in the group and reports any unusual symptoms to parents or administrator. Maintains all required records including attendance, meal counts, conference reports, and prepares other required classroom records. Assists the development and educational growth of the Center by utilizing and maintaining Center materials and resources and participating in community workshops. Education Requirement: High School Diploma or equivalent, required. Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent coursework with a focus in Early Childhood, preferred. Certifications: Two-year certification in early child development, or CDA credential, preferred. Skills: Working knowledge of State Licensing regulations, SUTQ, and Center policies. Excellent communication skills. Ability to supervise and provide direction for part-time assistant teachers, students, and volunteers. Flexibility and ability to handle multiple tasks and changing priorities. Experience: Experience in an early childhood education program, preferred. Physical Requirements: Occasionally uses chemicals/medications, computer skills, hand use: grasping, gripping, turning, repetitive hand/arm use, sitting. Frequently bends/twists, exposed to blood and/or bodily fluids, communicable diseases and/or pathogens, flexing/extending of neck, lifting/carrying 0-40 lbs, pushing/pulling 0-40 lbs, reaching above shoulder, squatting/kneeling, standing, walking. Continuously uses audible speech, color vision, decision making, depth perception, hearing acuity, peripheral vision, problem solving, seeing far/near. Additional physical requirements include ability to multi-task within a fast-paced environment.
