About the Role
The Company is seeking a Chief Diversity Officer to lead and advance its commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing initiatives that foster a campus culture embracing diversity and inclusion. This includes serving as a subject matter expert, providing guidance on institutional policy, and ensuring that the commitment to diversity is evident at all levels. The role involves providing leadership for the college's diversity strategic plan, promoting a culture of student learning and development, and creating and leading a College Diversity Council. The Chief Diversity Officer will also be involved in DEI programming, training, and workshops for all stakeholders, as well as expanding campus diversity and inclusion programming to ensure broad participation. Applicants for the Chief Diversity Officer position at the company should have a Master's degree in a relevant discipline, with a doctorate being preferred. A minimum of 3 years' experience in higher education, particularly with a background in community college, is also preferred. The ideal candidate will have experience in diversity and equity programs, as well as in student life areas such as residence life, student activities, and counseling. A leadership role with experience as a direct supervisor is also desirable. The Chief Diversity Officer will be expected to work with various campus stakeholders, including academic affairs and faculty members, to enhance the inclusive co-curricular learning environment and to create extended community partnerships that support the needs of diverse students. Strong communication and counseling skills are essential for advising and consulting with the campus community to build an inclusive and welcoming environment.
