Summary:

Develops and oversees the operational strategies for clinical products, programs, and services. Provides oversight of all internal operations related to Behavioral Department. Assists the Director in strategic planning and implementing organizational procedures and processes, including analysis of opportunities for expanding lines of business. Provides supervision and coordination in all areas of care for individuals served, and their respective administrative support of services.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Experience providing counseling and rapport building
  • Must possess excellent writing and organizational skills.
  • Requires strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively as a team.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and to prioritize tasks are essential
  • Strong Interpersonal skills
  • Detail oriented and strong writing skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality / HIPPA regulations
  • Willing to help others when crisis arises and intervene when maladaptive behaviors arise
  • Anticipate and meet deadlines, complete assignments with consistent accuracy
  • Experience working with OPWDD population such as individuals with autism or intellectual disabilities
  • (preferred)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook)
  • Authorization to work in the US
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle

Education and/or Experience:

  • Master’s degree from an accredited college/university in Psychology and/or Counseling, NY licensing required (e.g. LMHC, LCSW, BCBA).
  • 5-7 years of experience in behavior management/counseling and crisis management.
  • Supervisory Experience required
  • Extensive knowledge of OPWDD operations and general management principles and techniques.
  • Must be experienced in handling confidential information in the strictest manner, can multi-task and analyze problems and determine corrective measures. Self-starter takes initiative and goal-oriented professional with the ability to work independently in an organized manner and be an effective part of a team, in a fast-paced environment with the ability to effectively collaborate with others. Evidence of ability to prioritize, manage and complete task and projects with tight deadlines and;
  • Successful completion of delegated and assigned training determined by agency and supervisor which may include SCIP, and CPR/First Aid certifications and familiarity with OPWDD regulations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. 2. Directs and coordinates activities of department or division for which responsibility is delegated to further attainment of goals and objectives.

3. Responsible for the management of all Behavioral Specialist and resident and day habilitation services in regards to behavioral management and ensuring individuals’ well-being and reviewing ABSS paperwork.

4. Participates in processes improvement and training and development in the organization.

5. Ensures regulations and policies are followed accordingly.

6. Sets the direction and leads the infrastructure of care to ensure that department functions are managed within budget and defined goals.

7. Assist the Director in the development of appropriate quality assurance programs and monitor quality control for all operational functions.

8. Reviews analyses of activities, costs, operations, and forecast data to determine department or division progress toward stated goals and objectives.

9. Monitors care services insuring they meet organizational guidelines and OPWDD regulations. Reviews all behavioral treatment plans.

10. Provides oversight and direction for all projects related to clinical products and services.

11. Identifies work related problems with possible solutions and implements appropriate solutions.

12. Identifies processes, determines areas for improvement, and sets measurement in place for same.

13. Responsible for required corrective action, coaching and development of direct reporting staff.

14. Responsible for annual performance evaluations of direct reporting staff.

15. Participates in formulating and administering policies and planning. Coordinates with Directors and administration in planning and developing programs and proposals to support current or new programs.

16. Assists the Director of Psychology in planning and recommending organizational and clinical policies and procedures to the appropriate committees.

17. Develops departmental strategic operational planning including staffing.

18. Develops departmental planning including operational goals and objectives. Staff management including hiring, training, management, development, coaching.

19. Participate in HRC (Human Rights Committee) and IRC (Incident Review Committee) meetings.

20. Cover Behavior Specialist Caseloads and job responsibilities as needed.

21. Cover for Director of Psychology and Director of Psychology job responsibilities as needed.

22. Assist Director of Psychology in supervising behavior specialist and ensuring behavior specialists roles and responsibilities are carried out.

23. Completes other tasks/responsibilities as delegated by supervisor.
